Read-Only Memory

Can Club Sega take you back to the 90s?

“NEO-GEO ROM Collection”

The sign beneath that title reads:

If you would like to try out any of the games, please ask a member of staff.

※ We cannot guarantee these items are working ※

There‘s a bunch of classics here – the envy of many a collector and a retrogamer’s Heaven on Earth.

But like a museum of ancient curiosities, the game selection is ragged flotsam, washed up on the tides of time. These ROMs were chosen according to availability not preference.

And that’s how you know it’s not 1999. If you were really there, you would be browsing all these titles and more, all of them actually running on candy cabinets in every game centre.

But that world is behind us – the memories are read-only.
