It tells you something about the purpose of Japanese arcades when you see multiple cabs on Tetris: you don’t always come here for the games.

There are still the arcade-only mega-hardware ride-on robot-pilot extravaganzas. Those can ask you to leave the house. But Tetris is not a destination game.

Tetris is a friend in the gloom you can sit with when making your way in the world takes everything you’ve got. When taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot – when you’d like to get away. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your three-letter scoreboard alias.
