Bright lights in Tokyo simmer in the humidity and diffuse gently through the sultry air. In this way, competing multicolours and flashing bulbs seem somehow peaceful. They say “Come on in… chill out… GAME.”

Arcade groundfloors are usually casualised to the point of tedium. UFO catchers to vanishing point. But M M Land in Shimokitazawa has loads of good stuff that’s still accessible enough to drag a non-gamer into: Luigi’s Mansion, Jubeat, a weird reaction/peripheral-vision tester… It’s a perfect late-night time-killer.
