Wouldn’t your response be quicker if you started nearer the buttons? It’s not that kind of reflexes. You play with rhythm, where the travel helps. Reflexes are to quickly change rhythm. If fighters were music games they’d be jazz duo jam sessions.

Bouncing off each other. One hit a suggestion for you to respond to. Riff something till the other side twigs it then step it up, develop it, build the progression then snap it.

Let them have a solo, just keep the basics ticking while they sing. Then back home and play it out. You both know how it’s ending before it does. Maybe only just before, but you know. You share something.
