Why Arcades Matter
In times gone by, when Sega made consoles, it felt like there was a clear path from arcade to home release. Back then, Gunslinger Stratos would have been ported to Saturn or Dreamcast and come with dedicated controllers.
Nowadays, some of the strongest games will never leave the murky basement of the game centre. It becomes part of the game that you go to the arcade, get in the stink, neglect the responsibility of wherever else you should be.
For Gunslinger Stratos you stand in front of a giant screen with two pistols. If you didn’t do that – if you were at home in your private room, sitting – you wouldn’t be playing the same game.
